Former Arsenal striker: Olivier Giroud key to title bid
Former Arsenal striker Niall Quinn heaps praise on Olivier Giroud
Olivier Giroud has a key role to play in Arsenal’s Premier League title bid, according to Niall Quinn.
The France international scored a hat-trick in the north London side’s 3-0 victory over Olympiacos in Greece in their must-win Champions League group stage on Wednesday night.
Giroud was in the wilderness for a bit but he is starting to turn it round
Giroud became the seventh Premier League player to score a hat-trick in the Champions League after his stunning treble against Wednesday night’s Greek opponents.
The 29-year-old striker initially fell down the pecking order at The Emirates after Arsene Wenger turned to Theo Walcott before the England man suffered an injury.
Former Arsenal striker Quinn, who won the League Cup with the north London side in 1987, believes Giroud is starting to really come into his own for Wenger’s side.
“If Arsenal are to challenge for the title, Olivier Giroud is going to be a big part of it,” Quinn told Sky Sports.
“He was in the wilderness for a bit, but he is starting to turn it round.”
Giroud has scored 15 times for club and country in 28 games in all competitions this season.
The France international moved to Premier League side Arsenal from Ligue 1 side Montpellier in 2012.
