Former Man United star slams Louis van Gaal’s ‘crushing’ philosophy

Alan Tonge runs the rule over Louis van Gaal's Manchester United tactics

Louis van Gaal’s philosophy is crushing the players and the supporters, according to Alan Tonge.

The Red Devils played out a goalless draw with West Ham United at Old Trafford on Saturday evening, succumbing to back-to-back Premier League stalemates.

The 20-time English champions had 21 attempts on the West Ham goal, but Van Gaal’s side could only register on shot on target in the absence of the out-of-form Wayne Rooney.

Former United man Tonge discussed Van Gaal’s tactics following the stalemate with the Hammers, criticising the mediocre football that Red Devils are producing despite their heavy spending in the summer.

United are three points behind leaders Leicester City following their goalless draw with the Hammers.

Van Gaal’s side are unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions since a 3-0 defeat by title rivals Arsenal at Emirates Stadium in October.
