Harry Redknapp makes bold prediction about Tottenham’s season

Harry Redknapp is tipping Tottenham to mount a Premier League title challenge in the new year

Harry Redknapp believes that Tottenham Hotspur have what it takes to win the Premier League this season after their impressive recent form under Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs have been one of the English top-flight’s most consistent performers this season and moved to within four points of leaders Arsenal thanks to their dramatic 2-1 victory at Watford on Monday afternoon.

Pochettino has been tasked with guiding the Lilywhites back into the Champions League for the first time since Redknapp was in charge of the north London side.

However, their position in the table and the inconsistent form of many of their rivals has prompted some to suggest that Spurs could be capable of mounting a serious challenge for the title this term.

Former Spurs boss Redknapp has been thoroughly impressed by what he has seen from Pochettino’s side this season and says they could well mount a title bid in the new year.

Redknapp told talkSPORT: “Tottenham have been excellent so far this season.

“If they put the same type of run together in the second half of the campaign there’s no reason why they can’t [make a title challenge], it’s wide open this year.

“Nobody is running away with it. Arsenal were strongly fancied after they beat Man City but then they get beat 4-0 by Southampton, there’s something not right with City at the moment and Leicester have still got a chance, it’s been incredible what they’ve achieved, a miracle.

“The title race is wide open and Tottenham have got a real opportunity. They’re looking very strong, they’re right up there and there’s no reason they can’t have a crack at it.”
