Hector Bellerin reveals nickname for Arsenal star that Theo Walcott started
Hector Bellerin reveals that Nacho Monreal is called "Crouchie" by his Arsenal team-mates
Hector Bellerin has revealed that he and his Arsenal team-mates call Nacho Monreal “Crouchie” – because the full-back looks like Peter Crouch.
Monreal has become a regular in the Arsenal first team in recent months and has featured in all 16 of the Gunners’ Premier League games so far this season.
Bellerin revealed that Theo Walcott first pointed out the resemblance between the duo – and nickname has stuck ever since.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Bellerin said: “Everyone calls him Crouchie. I think Theo started it. He actually says: ‘Yeah, I do look like him’. He doesn’t care, he’s got a good sense of humour.
“We say Theo looks like Lewis Hamilton and Santi Cazorla looks like Adam Sandler.
“They don’t say much about me, but the other day in a Greek restaurant there was this waiter who looked just like me and everyone was taking pictures of us.”
Bellerin and his Arsenal team-mates are preparing for their crunch Premier League showdown with Manchester City at Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
The Gunners head into the game in second place in the table and just a point ahead of the Citizens as they look to lay down a marker ahead of the hectic festive period.
Arsenal, who finished third last term, have not won the Premier League since their unbeaten triumph back in the 2003-04 campaign.
