Ian Wright says he would love to play in the same Arsenal team as in-form Mesut Ozil.

The Germany international produced another influential performance on Monday night as Arsenal bounced back from their 4-0 loss at Southampton on Boxing Day to ease to a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth at The Emirates.

Ozil teed up centre-half Gabriel Paulista to break the deadlock from a first-half corner before the 27-year-old capped a special performance with a mesmerising goal midway through the second half in north London.

Former Arsenal striker Wright was full of praise for the former Real Madrid midfielder after having watched Ozil thrill Gunners supporters against the Cherries on Monday night.

“He created another nine chances,” Wright told Match Of The Day.

“He was amazing. It was a brilliant corner for Gabriel’s goal. The quality of Ozil was brilliant.

“The Arsenal players have to get themselves on their toes a bit more. Like Giroud, he hesisates.

“He deserved his goal. I’d love to be playing with that guy.”

Ozil has scored three goals and has made 16 assists in 18 Premier League games for Arsenal so far this season.

Arsene Wenger’s side hoisted themselves to the top of the Premier League and above Leicester City thanks to their victory over Bournemouth.

However, the Foxes can reclaim top spot if Claudio Ranieri’s side beat Manchester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.
