Liverpool eased into the semi-finals of the League Cup after a stylish 6-1 win at Southampton.
Sturridge scored his first goal since September when the England international coolly finished past Maarten Stekelenburg in the 25th minute to cancel out Sadio Mane’s opener at St Mary’s.
The 26-year-old added a second four minutes later before Divock Origi netted Liverpool’s third to complete a first-half comeback on the south coast.
The Belgium international went on to score another two goals to complete his hat-trick against the Saints, whilst substitute Jordon Ibe also found the net.
