Injured Man United star sends message to team-mates on Twitter

Chris Smalling wishes his Manchester United team-mates luck ahead of their trip to Bournemouth

Chris Smalling has taken to social media to confirm that he will miss Manchester United’s clash with Bournemouth on Saturday evening due to a groin strain and wish his team-mates luck.

The England defender suffered the injury during the Red Devils’ disappointing Champions League defeat by Wolfsburg on Tuesday night but was forced to complete the game as Louis van Gaal had already made his three substitutions.

United head into the game looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League after they were held to a goalless draw by West Ham United last weekend.

However, the Red Devils have no less than nine first-team players missing for Saturday’s game due to injury or suspension.

Smalling used his personal Twitter account to update fans on his injury situation and wish his team-mates all the best for the game.
