Jamie Carragher has criticised Mamadou Sakho for a “nightmare” performance after Liverpool slumped to a disappointing 3-0 defeat by Watford on Sunday afternoon.

It was a day to forget for the Merseyside outfit as they were well beaten by the Hornets at Vicarage Road to dent their hopes of a top-four finish this season.

Adam Bogdan, starting in goal ahead of Simon Mignolet, dropped a corner with the very first touch of his Premier League debut, allowing Nathan Ake to open the scoring in the third minute.

Odion Igahlo then doubled the home side’s lead in the 15th minute, before the Nigerian sealed the victory with his 12th of the season, nodding in from Valon Behrami’s cross five minutes from time.

Carragher was clearly not impressed by Liverpool’s performance, if his tweets from during the game are anything to go by.

The former Liverpool defender tweeted:

The result left Liverpool ninth in the Premier League and five points adrift of fourth place.
