Jamie Carragher reveals Liverpool’s ‘only positive’ from Newcastle loss

Jamie Carraghers looks on the bright side of Liverpool's 2-0 loss to Newcastle United

Jamie Carragher has picked out Liverpool’s only positive from Sunday’s 2-0 loss to Newcastle United.

The Reds succumbed to their first defeat since early November after Martin Skrtel’s own goal and Georgino Wijnaldum’s added-time strike sealed three points for Steve McClaren’s struggling side at St James’s Park.

However, Carragher did receive some good news following the defeat as his former team-mate Martin Skrtel equalled a Liverpool record in the Premier League and joined the retired England defender on seven own goals.

And the Liverpool legend wasted no time taking to Twitter to reflect on the only positive from a disappointing performance and result.

Skrtel scored in Liverpool’s 4-1 victory over Manchester City in the Premier League earlier this season.

The Reds are in sixth place and nine points behind surprise Premier League leaders Leicester City following their defeat.
