Jamie Carragher: Why I love Man United boss Louis van Gaal
Jamie Carragher is a big fan of the Manchester United boss
Jamie Carragher has spoken of his admiration for Louis van Gaal as the Dutchman bids to steer Manchester United back to winning ways against Stoke City on Boxing Day.
The Red Devils head into Saturday’s clash looking to turn around their recent run of disappointing form.
United were dumped out of the Champions League at the hands of Wolfsburg earlier this month, before suffering back-to-back Premier League defeats by Bournemouth and Norwich City.
Those results allowed Tottenham Hotspur to leapfrog United up into fourth place in the Premier League table ahead of the hectic festive schedule.
However, former Liverpool defender Carragher admits that he is a huge fan of Van Gaal and the way he addresses the media.
Asked to pick his best moment of 2015 in his column for the Daily Mail, Carragher selected Van Gaal’s end-of-season speech for Manchester United.
Carragher told the Daily Mail: “I love watching Van Gaal talk to the media — his latest electric five-minute press conference was no different.
“There is always a gem in there that makes me laugh and the night he took to the stage at United’s end-of-season awards, perhaps with the help of some Dutch courage, was pure comedy gold.
“I can still, even now, hear him say ‘Hello! Hello! Pay attention to the manager!’ and talking about the quality of the female musician’s saxophone play. It was absolutely priceless!”
United finished fourth in Van Gaal’s first season in charge last term.
