Jamie Redknapp states his prediction for Bournemouth v Man United
Jamie Redknapp reckons Bournemouth are capable of holding Manchester United to a draw on Saturday
Jamie Redknapp is tipping Bournemouth to hold Manchester United to a 1-1 draw in Saturday evening’s Premier League clash.
The Red Devils are with nine key players due to injury and suspension as they look to return to winning ways in the top flight this weekend.
United head into the game on the back of their disappointing Champions League exit following the 3-2 loss to Wolfsburg in Germany on Tuesday night.
Louis van Gaal’s men have also struggled in the Premier League in recent weeks and were held to a goalless draw by West Ham at Old Trafford last weekend.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, have had a week to prepare for the game following their stunning 1-0 win at Chelsea in the Premier League last Saturday.
And former Tottenham and Liverpool midfielder Redknapp believes that the home side are more than capable of holding United to a draw on Saturday evening.
Redknapp told Sky Sports: “I’m intrigued to see how Bournemouth get on when they host United on Saturday Night Football.
“They had a great result at Chelsea last weekend and I’m really pleased for them. I love what they’re doing down there – and I think they’ll stay up.
“Bournemouth have been hit hard by injuries – like United – but it’s the sort of game the visitors won’t be looking forward to.
“There will be a lot of talk about 1984, when Bournemouth beat United in the FA Cup and I wouldn’t bet against another upset on Saturday.
“Manchester United at home is a big occasion for the fans and players. It would have been one of the first games they would have looked for when the fixtures were announced.
“After beating Chelsea, they’ll be buzzing for this one – and I reckon they can pull off a 1-1 draw, which would be great reward for the work Eddie Howe and his team are doing on the south coast.”
