Jamie Redknapp states his prediction for Arsenal v Man City
Jamie Redknapp is backing Arsenal to beat Manchester City at The Emirates on Monday night
Jamie Redknapp says Arsenal will have too much firepower for Manchester City at Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
The Gunners have already beaten City’s derby rivals in north London earlier this season after a resounding 3-0 victory over Manchester United in October.
On Monday Night Football, I reckon it will be the Gunners who fire
Arsenal are five points adrift of Premier League leaders Leicester City after the Foxes were 3-2 winners against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.
Arsene Wenger’s side are unbeaten in their last three games in all competitions against the Citizens since a 6-3 loss at Eithad Stadium in December 2013.
However, former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur captain Redknapp explained why he believes Arsenal will beat their title rivals on Monday night.
“Typically, Arsenal haven’t done well against the other leading sides in the Premier League over the past few seasons,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“But they’ll hope to follow up that 3-0 win at home to Manchester United earlier this season and show they can mix it with the best this year.
“I still feel City have the attributes to win the Premier League in the long run – they have attacking talent which can rip teams apart. But, on Monday Night Football, I reckon it will be the Gunners who fire.”
Arsenal can move four points clear of second-placed City and to within two points of Leicester if Wenger’s side beat Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
The north London side are unbeaten in their last three Premier League games.
