John Barnes states his prediction for Tottenham v Newcastle

John Barnes is tipping Tottenham to secure a 2-0 win over Newcastle at White Hart Lane on Sunday

John Barnes is backing Tottenham Hotspur to secure a comfortable victory when they host Newcastle United at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs head into the game on the back of their impressive 4-1 Europa League win over Monaco in north London on Thursday as Erik Lamela hit a hat-trick for the Lilywhites.

Tottenham were forced to settle for a point when they were held to a 1-1 draw at West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League last weekend to leave them in fifth place in the table.

Newcastle, meanwhile, sealed an impressive 2-0 win over Liverpool last Sunday.

However, former Liverpool star Barnes is fully expecting Mauricio Pochettino’s men to return to winning ways when they host the Mapgies on Sunday.

Barnes wrote in his blog for Titanbet: “Spurs have been very impressive and are still unbeaten since the opening day of the season.

“Newcastle will be buoyed by their win over Liverpool, but not many teams go to White Hart Lane and win these days. [I’m predicting] 2-0 Spurs, Harry Kane with both goals.”

Tottenham are unbeaten in the Premier League since their opening weekend defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford. However, Spurs have won just five of their last 16 top-flight games.
