John Terry has taken to social media to pay tribute to Jose Mourinho after the Portuguese coach was sacked as Chelsea manager on Thursday.
The former Real Madrid boss was dismissed on Thursday afternoon in the wake of Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Monday night.
Terry played under Mourinho during both of his spells in charge at Stamford Bridge and won three Premier League titles under the ex-Porto boss’ guidance.
Blues skipper Terry uploaded the photo above of himself with Mourinho onto his personal Instagram account and wrote a heartfelt message on Friday morning.
The former England captain could not hide his disappointment at Mourinho’s departure, and admitted that it was a “sad day” for the Blues.
Terry posted the picture above onto the app and wrote: “Thank You doesn’t seem enough. Sad sad day. Gonna miss you Boss. The Very Best I have EVER worked with, unbelievable memories together #boss #friend #specialone #bestever @chelseafc”
Cesc Fabregas was among the other Chelsea players to pay tribute to Mourinho after his departure.
Chelsea head into Saturday’s home game against Sunderland at Stamford Bridge in 16th place in the Premier League table and just one point above the relegation zone.
