Jose Mourinho: Chelsea out of top-four race
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says the Blues won't finish in the Premier League's top four
Jose Mourinho has ruled Chelsea out of the race for a top-four finish this season.
The Blues slumped to their ninth defeat of the Premier League campaign on Monday night after a 2-1 loss to surprise leaders Leicester City at King Power Stadium.
Chelsea are a point above the relegation zone after goals from Leicester duo Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy sealed three points for Claudio Ranieri’s men.
The defending Premier League champions are already 14 points behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the table, although the Red Devils lost 2-1 to Bournemouth on Saturday evening.
Asked by Sky Sports News if Chelsea are too far behind United to secure a top-four finish and a place in next season’s Champions League, Mourinho replied: “Yes. Clearly yes.”
