Juan Mata sends heartfelt message to Man United fans after Norwich defeat
Juan Mata admits that there is plenty of room for improvement from Manchester United in the coming days
Juan Mata has admitted that he and his Manchester United team-mates feel “deeply sorry” for the Red Devils’ fans following their poor run of form.
Louis van Gaal’s men slumped to their second successive Premier League defeat on Saturday as they were beaten 2-1 by Norwich City at Old Trafford to compound the disappointment of last weekend’s loss to Bournemouth.
We feel deeply sorry for the fans
The Red Devils were also dumped out of the Champions League earlier this month and their poor form in the league has led to speculation about Van Gaal’s future at the club.
United now face tricky tests against Stoke City and Chelsea during a hectic festive period for the Red Devils.
And Mata admits that he is desperate to help United return to winning ways in the coming days after the disappointment of Saturday’s loss.
Speaking to MUTV on Saturday, Mata said: “We feel deeply sorry for the fans, and I think they are incredible; we have to do better.
“Everyone is frustrated, but it’s time to show that we are strong and Manchester United [are ready] to fight in every game.
“We need to get back on a run of results as this is a crucial time and we need to do it.”
He added: “[We are] hoping that the next game comes soon as we need a win and we need it at this stage. It’s frustrating not to win at home; we should be winning at Old Trafford and we did not do it.”
Saturday’s defeat left United in fifth place in the Premier League table.
