Jurgen Klopp reveals Liverpool boost on Daniel Sturridge injury
Jurgen Klopp reveals that Daniel Sturridge could be back available for Liverpool in as little as 10 days
Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Liverpool could have Daniel Sturridge back available within as little as 10 days following the striker’s latest injury setback.
The England international has been plagued by injury problems in recent months and had only just returned to action for the Reds after knee and foot problems before suffering a hamstring strain during a substitute appearance in Liverpool’s 2-0 loss to Newcastle United at the weekend.
However, Klopp has moved to play down the seriousness of Sturridge’s latest setback, and says that the forward could make his return to action before the new year.
Klopp told a news conference ahead of Liverpool’s Europa League clash with FC Sion: “It is no knee, no hip, no foot… It’s just a little hamstring. But this is a sign that it was too much for him. So we have to see.
“Now we have 10 days, I would say, until we think about if he should play. That would be the Watford game, maybe; eight days might be the longest time he has trained for in the last year.
“Then maybe he is ready to play 20-25 minutes like it is.”

He added: “In this moment, he cannot play three games in a week. If you have a normal pre-season, if you have a normal period of time training, then you are ready for this.”
The striker has made six appearances for Liverpool so far this season, scoring four goals for the Merseyside outfit.
Liverpool need a draw from their clash with Sion on Thursday night to top their Europa League group, having already booked their spot in the last 32.
