Kevin Kilbane: What Louis van Gaal needs to save Man United career

Kevin Kilbane says Manchester United need to start winning games in a more comprehensive manner

Kevin Kilbane says Manchester United need to start winning game in a more comprehensive manner if Louis van Gaal wants to continue as manager at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils boss is coming under increasing pressure at the 20-time English champions after extending their eight-game winless run following a goalless draw with Chelsea on Monday night.

United are currently on their worst run since 1990 ahead of the visit of struggling Swansea City in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Former Republic of Ireland defender Kilbane says Van Gaal is in desperate need of a run of results in which United secure a series of landside victories.

“They need a run of convincing wins four or five games on the bounce,” Kilbane told Newstalk’s Off The Ball.

“When they look at United over Van Gaal’s reign, I can name just four or five games where they’ve really convinced me.

“They’ve got to have a run of games where they’ve got to be much more convincing.”

United are nine points behind bitter rivals Arsenal, who moved to the top of the Premier League after a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth at The Emirates on Monday night.
