Klopp delivers latest Liverpool injury update ahead of West Ham clash
Jurgen Klopp discusses the fitness of Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson ahead of Saturday's trip to West Ham
Jurgen Klopp was remaining tight-lipped on Jordan Henderson’s fitness after the midfielder was injured in Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Sunderland on Wednesday night.
The England international was forced off in the second half of the Stadium of Light clash as Christian Benteke scored Liverpool’s winner.
I cannot say too much about the problems he had now, I hope it’s not too serious
Henderson made a much-anticipated return to the Reds side in recent weeks after missing most of the Premier League season so far due to heel and foot injuries.
Speaking after Liverpool’s 1-0 win against Sunderland on Wednesday night, Klopp admitted that he is in the dark on the severity of Henderson’s latest injury.
“I don’t really know – it’s not perfect otherwise we wouldn’t have taken him off, but we had to. Now we have to wait. I cannot say exactly [what the injury is] at this moment,” Klopp told his post-match media conference.
“All the players are important but with Emre [Can] and Hendo together, it’s a good couple usually. I cannot say too much about the problems he had now, I hope it’s not too serious.”
Henderson has scored one goal and has made two assists in six Premier League games so far this season.
Liverpool are in seventh place and five points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
The Reds are nine points adrift of Premier League leaders Arsenal ahead of their trip to West Ham United at Upton Park in Saturday’s early kick-off.
