Liverpool legend: Why Javier Hernandez better than Man United signing
Steve McManaman explains why he believes Javier Hernandez is better than Man United striker Anthony Martial
Steve McManaman says Javier Hernandez would be a better option for Manchester United than France striker Anthony Martial.
The 20-year-old, who moved to United from Monaco in the summer transfer window, scored his first goal since October in a 3-2 defeat by Wolfsburg in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Hernandez got on the score sheet in Bayer Leverkusen’s 1-1 draw with Barcelona mid-week after the Mexico international joined the Bundesliga side in the summer after being deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
The 28-year-old striker is one of Europe’s form goal-scorers after netting 10 times in his last 10 games in all competitions for the German outfit.
Former Liverpool and Manchester City midfielder McManaman explained why he would prefer Hernandez over Martial.
“He scores more goals than him,” McMananam told BT Sport.
“In the future Martial looks like he will be a really good player.
“But now, when you need to score goals and please the crowd, Hernandez all day long.”

Hernandez has scored seven times in 12 Bundesliga games for Leverkusen since his summer switch from the 20-time English champions.
Martial hasn’t netted a Premier League goal since a 3-2 victory over Southampton at St Mary’s in September.
