Liverpool transfers: Alberto Moreno addresses Real Madrid reports
Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno says he is unaware of reports Real Madrid interest
Alberto Moreno has played down reports linking the Liverpool defender with a move to Real Madrid.
The Spain international impressed at St Mary’s on Wednesday night as the 23-year-old helped the Reds seal a stylish 6-1 win against Southampton in the League Cup quarter-final.
Moreno has started all of Liverpool’s last seven games in all competitions after having established himself as the club’s first-choice left-back under Jurgen Klopp.
Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez is reportedly an admirer of the Liverpool full-back and is considering a raid on his former club in the January transfer window.
However, Moreno, whose long-range strike was deflected into the Southampton goal by Divock Origi Wednesday night, rubbished reports of a move to Los Blancos.
“I have never had anything serious with them – not me, not my brothers or representatives,” Moreno is quoted as saying by Liverpool Echo.
“I have not found out about that [Real Madrid interest], I do not know whether that is true.”
Moreno moved to Liverpool from Sevilla in a £12m deal after helping the La Liga club to win the Europa League.
