Liverpool transfers: Robert Lewandowski open to Madrid move, says expert
Liverpool target Robert Lewandowski would be "open" to a move to Real Madrid from Bayern Munich
Liverpool have been dealt a blow after La Liga expert Guillem Balague claimed Robert Lewandowski would consider leaving Bayern Munich for Real Madrid.
The Bayern striker has been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena despite scoring a sensational 14 goals in 11 Bundesliga games this term.
Unsurprisingly, Jurgen Klopp’s appointment at Liverpool has prompted speculation the Liverpool manager could attempt to sign his former Borussia Dortmund striker.
However, Sky Sports expert Balague has suggested that Lewandowski would entertain the idea of leaving Bayern if a move to Spanish giants Madrid was on the cards.
“Those in the player’s close circle view enormous potential in a possible Bale-Lewandowski partnership and feel the time is right for him to make the move to the Spanish capital,” Balague told Sky Sports.
“He never thought he would have the chance to join Madrid while Cristiano Ronaldo was at the peak of his form but in Poland, the belief is that the Portugal forward and Karim Benzema’s time at the club is coming to an end.”
Lewandowski couldn’t find the net as Bayern suffered their first defeat of the Bundesliga season following a 3-1 loss to Borussia Mochengladbach.
The 27-year-old Poland striker has scored 18 times in 15 Bundesliga and Champions League games for Pep Guardiola’s side this season.
Lewandowski netted 103 times in 187 games under Klopp at Dortmund before the striker completed his controversial move to Bayern in 2014.
