Louis van Gaal: Liverpool legend would score for Man United

Louis van Gaal says Sergio Aguero and Luis Suarez would score goals if they were in his Man United side

Louis van Gaal says Sergio Aguero and Luis Suarez would have no problem scoring goals in his Manchester United side.

The Red Devils slumped to a second successive Premier League stalemate following a goalless draw with West Ham United at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

The 20-time English champions had 21 attempts on goal, but the Red Devils could only register one shot on target against the Hammers in the absence of Wayne Rooney.

Remarkably, United have only scored five times in their last seven games in all competitions, as Anthony Martial and Rooney continue to struggle upfront.

Van Gaal, who took over the reins at Old Trafford in 2014, believes his United side create enough chances that Aguero and Suarez would convert into goals.

“The question is would Luis Suarez or Sergio Aguero score if they were here?” Van Gaal told BBC Radio Manchester.

“That is a question mark. You never know. I think they would, though. We’ve created enough chances to score, so that was not the problem.”

United are in fourth place and three points behind surprise Premier League leaders Leicester City.
