Louis van Gaal: This Man United star can guide the team to success
Louis van Gaal says Bastian Schweinsteiger can help Manchester United improve in the coming weeks
Louis van Gaal is backing Bastian Schweinsteiger to show his class at Manchester United in the coming weeks and months.
The German World Cup winner has been a regular fixture in the Red Devils’ first team since arriving at the club from Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window.
The 31-year-old midfielder has already made 15 Premier League appearances for the United this season to help them up to fourth place in the top flight table heading into the hectic festive schedule.
United have been heavily criticised for an unadventurous style of play in recent weeks, with Van Gaal’s men having drawn their last three games and only managing to score one goal.

However, Red Devils boss Van Gaal feels that Schweinsteiger is one of the key men to help guide United out of their stuttering run of form.
Van Gaal told his post-match news conference at Old Trafford on Saturday: “The reason why we have bought Schweinsteiger is that he is a player who can lead or guide a team.
“That is important – not only his football qualities – but that he can lead and guide a team on the pitch.
“I believe that every match that he plays he can play better because until now we have not seen the best Schweinsteiger that I have seen at Bayern Munich, but he can guide the team.”
United travel to Wolfsburg in the Champions League on Tuesday night needing a win to progress to the last 16.
