Mamadou Sakho delivers Liverpool injury boost ahead of Watford trip
Mamadou Sakho says he is back in first-team training ahead of Liverpool's trip to Watford on Sunday
Mamadou Sakho has handed Liverpool an injury boost ahead of Sunday’s trip to Watford.
The France international hasn’t featured for the Merseyside outfit since the centre-half picked up a serious knee injury in a 2-1 defeat by Crystal Palace at Anfield in the Premier League on 8 November.
Jurgen Klopp is currently short on centre-half options after Croatia defender Dejan Lovren received a nasty gash to his leg following a full-blooded challenge with Craig Gardner during Sunday’s 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion.
However, Sakho, who moved to Liverpool from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in a £16m deal in August 2013, has confirmed that he is back training with his Reds team-mates ahead of Sunday’s trip to in-form promoted side Watford.
Sakho posted the above photo and wrote on his Instagram page:
Sakho had established himself as a first-choice player under new Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, but Lovren has since filled the void left by the former Paris Saint-Germain defender.
Liverpool are in ninth place in the Premier League table.
