Louis van Gaal runs rule over reports linking Man United assistant manager Ryan Giggs with Swansea role
Louis van Gaal has addressed speculation linking Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs with the Swnasea City job.
The former Wales international has been linked with a surprise appointment at Liberty Stadium after the Swans sacked Garry Monk on Wednesday.
The 42-year-old retired midfielder, who has won 13 Premier League titles, became United’s number two following Van Gaal’s appointment at Old Trafford in May 2014.
Swansea are currently 15th in the Premier League table and just a point above the relegation zone following a 3-0 loss to Leicester City last weekend.
Asked about reports linking his assistant manager with the managerial vacancy at Swansea, Van Gaal told his pre-match media conference:
“I never read the papers and think it is the truth,” Van Gaal said. “When it is the truth, I think he will come to me.”
The Red Devils crashed out of the Champions League on Tuesday night following a 3-2 loss to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.
The 20-time English champions face newly-promoted Bournemouth on Saturday evening after the Cherries beat defending champions Chelsea last weekend.
