Man United transfers: Louis van Gaal reveals January window plans
Louis van Gaal confirms he is on the lookout for January signings for Manchester United as the transfer window approaches
Louis van Gaal has confirmed that Manchester United are on the lookout for new signings in the January transfer window as he looks to bolster his injury-stricken squad.
The Red Devils added Wayne Rooney and Marcos Rojo to their injury list for Saturday’s clash with West Ham United at Old Trafford, with the likes of Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia already out of action for the foreseeable future.
With the January transfer window looming large, United have inevitably been linked with a host of players as Van Gaal looks to boost his side’s chances of winning the Premier League title this season.
And the Dutchman concedes that United’s injury struggles in recent weeks are likely to push him towards making some January signings in the new year.
Speaking at his news conference at Carrington on Friday afternoon, Van Gaal said: “The problem is that our injuries are always contact injuries and you cannot afford that because football is a sport of direct resistance.
“Shaw is direct injured, Rojo and Wayne also. We have a lot of long-lasting contact injuries, which is our problem.
“We are looking, but as you know it is not so easy to buy players and in January it is more difficult. We are looking but it is not for sure.”
United head into Saturday’s clash with West Ham one point behind joint leaders Manchester City and Leicester City.
