Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Arsenal v Man City
Mark Lawrenson is tipping Arsenal to seal a 2-1 win over Manchester City on Monday night
Mark Lawrenson is tipping Arsenal to secure a 2-1 victory over Manchester City in Monday night’s crunch Premier League clash at Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners head into the game in second place in the table and two points behind surprise leaders Leicester City, as they look to seal a win and lay down a marker ahead of the hectic festive period.
The two sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in north London in the same fixture last season.
However, former Liverpool man Lawrenson reckons that Arsenal will have just too much for Manuel Pellegini’s men in front of their home fans next week.
Lawrenson told BBC Sport: “I am not quite sure what to expect from Manchester City at the moment.
“It looks like they will be without their captain Vincent Kompany at the back again on Monday and, although Sergio Aguero is fit enough to return to their attack, I cannot see him lasting 90 minutes.
“In contrast, Arsenal’s important players are in form – like Aaron Ramsey in midfield, who has come back into the team and started scoring.
“Defensively they look settled too and I have a feeling the Gunners are going to win.”
Arsenal head into the game after having secured a 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park last weekend.
City, meanwhile, were 2-1 winners over Swansea City. The Citizens are currently third in the table and a point behind Arsene Wenger’s side after 16 games of the season.
