Martin Keown: This is Liverpool’s biggest change under Jurgen Klopp
Martin Keown runs the rule over Jurgen Klopp's impact at Liverpool
Martin Keown says the Liverpool players look like they are enjoying their football again under Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds were emphatic 6-1 winners against Southampton on Wednesday night as Divock Origi netted a hat-trick, Daniel Sturridge scored twice and Jordon Ibe came off the bench to net.
Liverpool have lost just once in 12 games in all competitions under Klopp, including impressive wins against Chelsea and Manchester City in the Premier League.
Former Arsenal defender Keown believes Klopp has already won the respect of his Liverpool players, which has helped the Reds improve their performances.
“There are some very good players in that group but Klopp is clever to put his foot on the ball and manage expectations,” Keown told Daily Mail.
“Clearly he is respected and liked by his team, which makes things so much easier, and all of a sudden Liverpool look like they are enjoying their football again. That for me has been the biggest difference.”
Klopp’s Liverpool side are six points behind joint leaders Manchester City and Leicester City ahead of their trip to Steve McClaren’s struggling Newcastle United side on Sunday.
