Aston Villa captain Micah Richards shows his class with a supportive message for Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge
Micah Richard has sent Daniel Sturridge a supportive message on Instagram after the Liverpool striker’s latest injury setback on Wednesday morning.
Sturridge was a second-half substitute in Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat by Newcastle United at St James’s Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The England striker made his first start for the Reds under Jurgen Klopp in the League Cup on Wednesday night, scoring twice in a 6-1 victory over Southampton.
However, Sturridge, who has battled to overcome hip, knee and thigh injuries over the past 18 months, has reportedly suffered a hamstring problem following Sunday’s game.
Aston Villa captain Richards, who played alongside Sturridge at Manchester City, posted the above Instagram message for his former team-mate.
Richard wrote on his Instagram page: “Just part of the journey! Rough with the smooth! Cream always rises. ❤️”
Sturridge has scored twice in five Premier League appearances for Liverpool in another injury-hit season so far.
