Michael Owen discusses Arsenal’s Premier League title chances

Michael Owen admits that he has been impressed by what he has seen from Arsenal so far this season

Michael Owen has admitted that he has been impressed by what he has seen from Arsenal in recent weeks as the Gunners look to end their long wait for the Premier League title.

The north London side battled hard as they secured a 2-1 victory over title rivals Manchester City at Emirates Stadium on Monday night to keep to within two points of Premier League leaders Leicester City heading into the hectic festive period.

The Gunners are now the favourites to win the title with most bookmakers, despite Arsene Wenger’s men not having lifted the top flight trophy since their famous unbeaten triumph back in 2003-04.

And former Liverpool and England striker Owen believes that the north London side deserve credit for stringing together a positive series of results despite their considerable injury list.

Owen wrote on his blog for Colossus Bets: “I’m not sure that I’d be in a mad rush to back Arsenal at odds-on to win the Premier League but you can’t deny that they were good value for the three points against Manchester City on Monday night, and are now in pole position to win their first title since 2004.

“And considering they have done so with a pretty horrendous injury list, it is all the more impressive.”
