Michael Owen makes prediction about next Chelsea boss after Jose Mourinho sacking
Michael Owen reckons Chelsea will be keen on replacing the sacked Jose Mourinho with Pep Guardiola
Michael Owen believes that Chelsea will be interested in bringing Pep Guardiola to Stamford Bridge following the news of Jose Mourinho’s sacking by the west London club.
Chelsea confirmed that they had parted company with the Portuguese coach on Thursday afternoon after the Blues slumped to their ninth Premier League defeat of the season against Leicester City on Monday night.
Guardiola’s future has also been a source of intense speculation in recent days amid claims that the Spaniard is set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
The former Barcelona boss had been touted as a possible target for both Manchester clubs, but Owen now feels that Chelsea will also be keen to lure Guardiola to the Premier League.
Owen posted on Sportlobster on Thursday afternoon: “I know there’s been plenty of rumours but still shocked to hear of Mourinho’s sacking. Who is out there that’s better!
“Could be a huge fight looming for Guardiola’s services between Chelsea and the Manchester clubs!”
Mourinho leaves Chelsea in 16th place in the Premier League table and just a point above the relegation zone after the west London side lost nine of their opening 16 games to leave their top-flight title defence in pieces.
