Michael Owen states his prediction for Southampton v Tottenham

Michael Owen expects Tottenham to return to winning ways against Southampton on Saturday

Michael Owen is tipping Tottenham Hotspur to bounce back from their loss to Newcastle United last weekend with a comfortable 2-0 win at Southampton on Saturday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men slumped to their first league defeat since the opening weekend of the season as the Magpies came from a goal down to beat the north London side in front of their home fans.

Tottenham are aiming to return to winning ways and reignite their bid for a top-four finish as they look to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Former Liverpool star Owen feels that last week’s defeat was more of a blip than anything else, and is tipping the Lilywhites to claim victory at St Mary’s on Saturday afternoon.

Owen wrote in his blog for Colossus Bets: “Tottenham getting beaten at home to Newcastle on Sunday was not on the menu for most punters. But I’d be inclined to give them that one poor performance, and I take them to win 2-0 at Southampton.

“Southampton are without a win in their last four league matches, as well as a 6-1 home hammering to Liverpool in the Cup in between, and are struggling to score.

“So if Tottenham play to their potential, I can see them winning this game to nil.”
