Michael Owen states his prediction for Tottenham v Newcastle

Michael Owen is backing Tottenham to secure a comfortable win over Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon

Michael Owen is confidently backing Tottenham Hotspur to secure a comfortable win over Newcastle United at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.

The north London side head into the game looking to return to winning ways in the top flight after they were held to a 1-1 draw by West Bromwich Albion in their most recent Premier League outing.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men sealed an impressive 4-1 win over Monaco in the Europa League in midweek as they secured their place in the last 32 as group winners.

And former Manchester United forward Owen is convinced that Spurs will take the three points from Sunday’s clash with the Magpies, despite Newcastle’s impressive win over Liverpool last weekend.

Owen wrote on his blog for BetVictor: “I think Newcastle were flattered in their 2-0 defeat of Liverpool at St James’ Park on Sunday albeit their energy levels seemed much improved and I expect Spurs to bring the Magpies back down to earth at the Lane.

“Harry Kane looks set to be rested for Thursday’s Europa League fixture with Monaco and with him fit and raring to go on Sunday Mauricio Pochettino’s side should seal all three points in north London.”

Tottenham can move up to fourth place in the Premier League table and above Manchester United if they beat Newcastle on Sunday. The Lilywhites are unbeaten in the top flight since the opening weekend of the season.
