Michael Owen states his prediction for Watford v Liverpool
Michael Owen is backing Liverpool to beat Watford 3-1 on Sunday afternoon...
Michael Owen is tipping Liverpool to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Watford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds are looking to respond after they were held to a 2-2 draw by West Bromwich Albion at Anfield last weekend.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are currently in 10th place in the Premier League table and five points behind fourth-placed Manchester United as the hectic festive period looms large.
And former Liverpool striker Owen is fully expecting to see the Reds return to winning ways when they travel to Vicarage Road on Sunday.
Owen wrote in his blog for Colossus Bets: “Watford v Liverpool is a tricky one, given the home side have proved surprisingly solid this season, keeping seven clean sheets. And there have been only 12 goals in eight games at Vicarage Road this season.
“So the logical thing would be to expect another low-scoring game, with Watford again proving hard to beat, especially with Liverpool not exactly firing on all cylinders in recent games.
“But I can’t get out of my head how devastating Liverpool have been when on the road at times this season, and if they can break down the Hornets early then I wouldn’t rule out a comprehensive away win, even with Sturridge on the sidelines yet again.
“I may be doing Watford a disservice, but they have lost three times at home, so I go 3-1 Liverpool.”
Liverpool, who are through to the Europa League last 32, have not won a game in all competitions since their 6-1 League Cup demolition of Southampton on 2 December.
The Merseyside outfit have won six, drawn six and lost four of their opening 16 Premier League games so far this season.
