Olivier Giroud: Why I’m happy for this Arsenal striker
Olivier Giroud is hoping Arsenal will see more of Joel Campbell's goal-scoring form
Olivier Giroud has heaped praise on Arsenal striker Joel Campbell after the Costa Rican scored in the Gunners’s 3-1 win against Sunderland on Saturday.
The France international broke the deadlock for the north London side before Giroud inadvertently levelled for the Black Cats ahead of half-time.
Hopefully we’re going to see more of him [Campbell] in that form
Giroud made amends with a second-half goal before Wales international Aaron Ramsey netted in added time at Emirates Stadium to seal three points.
The French striker discussed the performance of his team-mate Campbell in Arsenal’s 3-1 win against Sunderland.
“I’m happy for him because he has the opportunity to show his talent,” Giroud told Arsenal’s website.
“He’s a top guy who is very generous on the pitch because he never gives up.
“It’s not always been easy for him but I always used to speak with him, encourage him and when he’s playing like that he’s very important for us.
“Hopefully we’re going to see more of him in that form.”
Giroud has scored eight times in 15 Premier League appearances for the north London outfit this term.
The 29-year-old forward is expected to line up for Arsene Wenger’s side in their must-win game against Olympiacos in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Arsenal are in second place and a point behind surprise Premier League leaders Leicester City following their 3-1 win against Sunderland.
The north London outfit make the trip to struggling Aston Villa in their next Premier League fixture on Sunday afternoon.
