Paul Merson lays into Eden Hazard over Chelsea form
Paul Merson labels Eden Hazard's recent form as "shocking" after Jose Mourinho's sacking as Chelsea manager
Paul Merson has branded Eden Hazard’s recent form as “shocking” in the wake of Jose Mourinho’s sacking as Chelsea manager.
Hazard, like most of his Chelsea team-mates, has struggled to produce consistent form this season after helping the Blues win the Premier League title at a canter last term.
The Belgian was named the PFA player of the year in May after a stellar season in which he helped Chelsea win a League Cup and Premier League double.
However, the 24-year-old has failed to deliver consistent displays this term and is yet to score in the Premier League for the Blues.
And former Arsenal star Merson has been less than impressed by what he has seen from Hazard this season.
Asked to rate Hazard’s season so far, Merson told Sky Sports: “Shocking. People were putting him in the world-class bracket, he won every award in the Premier League last season, but how can you play for Chelsea, in that position, with the way Chelsea play, and not score any goals?
“I don’t understand it. Hazard won the league for Chelsea last year, and I used to love watching him play. I just don’t see it now.”
