Paul Merson makes bold prediction about Bournemouth v Man United
Paul Merson is expecting Bournemouth to claim a point against Manchester United on Saturday
Paul Merson does not expect Bournemouth to beat Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday night.
The Red Devils are switching their attention back to domestic affairs after the disappointment of their 3-2 loss Wolfsburg on Tuesday night as they were eliminated from the Champions League.
Louis van Gaal’s men have been struggling to find consistent form in recent weeks and were held to a goalless draw by West Ham United at Old Trafford last weekend.
And former Arsenal star Merson feels that Bournemouth, who beat Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge last weekend, will get at least a point from Saturday’s clash.
Merson told Sky Sports: “Bournemouth are coming off the back of two fantastic results, and Man United will be licking their wounds after a nightmare in Wolfsburg.
“I’m going 1-1, I don’t see Man United winning this. The easy thing is to keep clean sheets, but you’ve got to score at the other end.
“When United had to go and win a football match, like the other night, they concede three, and it could have been so much more. David de Gea made worldy after worldy in goal.
“I think they’ve been papering over the cracks, and the cracks really showed the other night. I don’t think they’re as good as people think they are.”
United head into Saturday’s game in fourth place in the Premier League table and three points behind leaders Leicester City, who host Chelsea at the King Power Stadium on Monday night.
Their Champions League exit means that they will compete in the Europa League round of 32 in the new year.
