Paul Merson makes unusual prediction for Man United v West Ham
Paul Merson is finally backing Manchester United to claim three points when they take on West Ham on Saturday
Paul Merson has gone against his recent predictions by backing Manchester United to beat West Ham United at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The Red Devils host the Hammers at their home ground as they bid to return to winning ways in the top flight after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Leicester City at the King Power Stadium last weekend.
Merson has not backed Louis van Gaal’s men to win their games very often this season, and correctly tipped the Red Devils to be held to a draw by Leicester last weekend.
However, the former Arsenal star is confident that United are on course to return to winning ways as they look to start a busy December with a victory in front of their home fans.
Merson told Sky Sports: “It’s unusual for me but I’m siding with Manchester United!
“They aren’t playing well but they just don’t lose. There’s certainly something about Louis van Gaal’s side.
“I’m going for a 2-0 United win because West Ham have hit a bit of a brick wall after their brilliant early season form.”
United head into Saturday’s game in third place in the Premier League table and one point behind joint leaders Manchester City and Leicester.
