Paul Merson states his prediction for Arsenal v Bournemouth

Paul Merson is tipping Arsenal to beat Bournemouth 3-1 at The Emirates on Monday afternoon

Paul Merson is tipping Arsenal to bounce back to winning ways when they host Bournemouth at Emirates Stadium on Monday afternoon.

The Gunners slumped to a shock 4-0 defeat by Southampton on Boxing Day as Arsene Wenger’s men spectacularly spurned their chance to move top of the Premier League table.

Arsenal had been tipped by many to embark on a positive run of results after their battling 2-1 win over Manchester City at Emirates Stadium last week.

However, former Gunner Merson is backing the north London side to beat Bournemouth 3-1 at The Emirates on Monday as they look to get their title bid back on track.

Merson told Sky Sports: “Arsenal were flying, and then they go and get beat badly by Southampton.

“They still won’t have a better chance to win the league than this season, and with that in mind, I do not see Bournemouth getting anything at the Emirates.

“Wenger will want a response from his side, and while the Gunners might concede, I think they’ll win relatively comfortably.”

Arsenal are looking to win their first Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph back in the 2003-04 campaign.

Wenger, whose team will face Barcelona in the Champions League last 16 next year, has guided the north London side to back-to-back FA Cup triumphs in the last two seasons.
