Paul Merson states prediction for Liverpool v Leicester City
Paul Merson says Leicester City will get a result at Anfield on Boxing Day
Paul Merson says he can’t see Premier League leaders Leicester City losing at Liverpool on Boxing Day.
The Reds welcome the league’s pace-setters fresh from a humiliating 3-0 loss to promoted side Watford at Vicarage Road in the Premier League last weekend.
I just can’t see Leicester losing this game
Leicester secured three points on Merseyside last Saturday as Riyad Mahrez inspired the Foxes to a 3-2 victory over Everton at Goodison Park.
Former Arsenal midfielder Merson expects Leicester to expose a vulnerable Liverpool side and get a result at Anfield on Boxing Day.
“This is a perfect game for Leicester. Liverpool are struggling like mad at home and I think the Foxes will get a result at Anfield,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“Their style won’t help Liverpool at all because Leicester will sit back, soak it up and they’ll catch them on the counter attack. Liverpool are so vulnerable to that at the moment, and they seem to be missing that guile to break teams down too.
“I just can’t see Leicester losing this game, I’ve watched them a lot this season and I think this is another match that they’ll catch their opponents on the break.
“If this game was at the King Power Stadium, I’d definitely be going with Leicester, but as it’s at Anfield, I’m going with a score draw.”
Leicester are two points clear of second-placed Arsenal after the Gunners were 2-1 winners against Manchester City at The Emirates on Monday night.
Claudio Ranieri’s side are a staggering 14 points clear of ninth-placed Liverpool in the race to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League.
Leicester were bottom of the Premier League table on Christmas Day in 2014 with Nigel Pearson in charge at King Power Stadium.
