Pedro: Why Cesc Fabregas will win over Chelsea supporters

Chelsea midfielder Pedro Rodriguez defends compatriot Cesc Fabregas after his recent poor form

Pedro Rodriguez has backed Cesc Fabregas to win over the Chelsea supporters.

The Spain international has been made one of the scapegoats for Jose Mourinho’s sacking after the defending champions terminated the manager’s contract on Thursday evening.

Cesc is a top player, a very good character in the team

Fabregas impressed in the Chelsea midfield as the west London side were 3-1 winners against fellow strugglers Sunderland at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

And Pedro, who moved to Chelsea from La Liga giants Barcelona in a £22m deal in the summer transfer window, leapt to the defence of the Spanish midfielder.

“It was difficult for him but he can get through this,” Pedro told Evening Standard.

“He is strong mentally and very competitive. Cesc is a top player, a very good character in the team, he is a winner and it’s good he plays for us.

“I understand why the fans are so upset. It’s normal when the team and coach are in this position.”

The World Cup winner has made two assists in 17 Premier League appearances for the west London outfit so far this season.
