Liverpool flop Mario Balotelli leaps to the defence of axed Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho
Jose Mourinho may have lost his Chelsea job on Thursday evening but the former Inter Milan manager can sleep well tonight knowing that he still has the support of Mario Balotelli.
The 52-year-old was unable to reverse Chelsea’s ailing fortunes in the Premier League this season in what was billed as the biggest challenge of Mourinho’s managerial career.
A run of nine defeat in 16 Premier League games brought to an end the Portuguese coach’s second reign at Stamford Bridge just seven months after he led Chelsea to double glory.
Perhaps the second-biggest challenge of Mourinho’s career was managing Balotelli, who played under the axed Chelsea manager for two seasons at Inter between 2007 and 2009.
And the Italy international, who is currently on loan at AC Milan from Liverpool, sent a message to Mourinho on Friday afternoon following the Chelsea manager’s sacking on Thursday.
Balotelli posted the above photo and wrote: “Doesn’t matter what you think or what you say. Jose is a great manager and he show it already many times with different teams👍🏾. #mourinho”
The Milan striker joined the Serie A side on a season-long loan from Liverpool in August after a forgettable first season at Anfield.
