Anthony Martial and Juan Mata were in no mood to joke about as Manchester United jetted off to Germany ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League clash.
The Red Devils need to beat Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg to be assured of their place in the Champions League knockout phase after a difficult group stage for Louis van Gaal’s side.
United have been struggling in the Champions League and the Premier League in recent weeks after scoring a disappointing six goals in their last nine games in all competitions.
Martial has failed to find the net since United’s 1-1 draw with CSKA Moscow in Russia in October, whilst the France international hasn’t scored a Premier League goal since 20 September.
So it was no surprise that Martial struggled to break into a smile as he joined Mata and David De Gea ahead of Monday afternoon’s flight to Germany.
United are in third place and three points behind surprise Premier League leaders Leicester City.
