Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel reveals that he is set to be sidelined for six weeks
Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has confirmed that he is set for a six-week spell on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury via a post on social media.
The 31-year-old Slovakia international was forced off in the 41st minute of Liverpool’s 3-0 Premier League defeat by Watford on Sunday.
Skrtel used his personal Instagram account to reveal that he has suffered a tear in my hamstring and tendon and will be out for six weeks – and not three months as had been reported by some media outlets.
The defender posted the picture above on the photo-sharing app and wrote: “After all rumours going around, I want to say the time I will spend on sideline wont be 3 months…after I suffered tear in my hamstring and tendon I will be out for 6 weeks…I will work hard on my recovery and will do everything to come back as soon as possible and even stronger than before!thanks for your support! #m37s #ynwa #liverpoolfc #slovakia”
Skrtel has been a regular fixture in Liverpool’s first team this season, making 26 appearances in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Liverpool will look to get back to winning ways when they host Premier League leaders Leicester City on Boxing Day.
Klopp’s side are currently ninth in the English top flight table.
