Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Wimmer congratulates Erik Lamela on his impressive hat-trick

Kevin Wimmer offered his congratulations to Tottenham Hotspur’s hat-trick hero Erik Lamela after Thursday night’s 4-1 victory over Monaco.

The Austria international was handed just his second start for the north London side for the visit of the Ligue 1 side after he moved to Spurs from Cologne in a £4.2m deal in the summer transfer window.

Wimmer partnered fellow summer arrival Toby Alderweireld at centre-half against Monaco as Lamela scored a first-half hat-trick to put the home side in charge.

However, the Austrian defender was unable to help Spurs keep a clean sheet as Stephan El Shaarawy netted a consolation strike before Tom Carroll sealed three points.

And 23-year-old Wimmer took to Twitter to offer his congratulations to Lamela for his hat-trick and reflect on Tottenham’s win which secured top spot in Group G.

Wimmer’s previous Tottenham appearances came against Arsenal in the League Cup and Qarabag in the Europa League.
