Guus Hiddink watches Chelsea ease to a 3-1 victory over Sunderland alongside Didier Drogba and Roman Abramovich

Guus Hiddink joined Blues legend Didier Drogba and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich in the stands at Stamford Bridge as the defending champions eased to a 3-1 win against Sunderland.

The Dutch coach was confirmed as the new Chelsea manager until the end of the season on Saturday after the Premier League holders sacked Jose Mourinho on Thursday afternoon.

Chelsea eased into an early lead thanks to Branislav Ivanovic’s opener before summer signing Pedro Rodriguez doubled the west London side’s advantage in the 13th minute.

Brazil international Oscar added a third for the home side before former Liverpool striker Fabio Borini netted a consolation for the visitors in the 53rd minute.

Chelsea won their fourth Premier League title last season. Hiddink previously took charge of the Blues during the 2008/09 campaign.
