Aaron Ramsey’s late goal ended Arsenal’s nerves and secured a 3-1 win over Sunderland at Emirates Stadium to move the Gunners up to second place in the Premier League table.
Arsene Wenger’s men took the lead against the Black Cats in the 33rd minute thanks to Joel Campbell’s opener in north London.
However, the visitors drew level on the stroke of half-time when Olivier Giroud scored an own-goal to hand Sunderland a lifeline.
But despite appearing to be nervous for long spells of the game, Arsenal went ahead again in the 63rd minute when Giroud made amends by heading in Ramsey’s pass to the delight of the home fans.
And Ramsey made the three points secure when he bundled home from close range following Calum Chamber’s deflected shot in stoppage time.
