Piers Morgan reacts to Olivier Giroud’s display as Arsenal beat Olympiacos
Piers Morgan heaps praise on Olivier Giroud after the striker hit a hat-trick to secure a 3-0 win for Arsenal against Olympiacos
Piers Morgan could not hide his delight after watching Olivier Giroud fire Arsenal to a 3-0 win over Olympiacos and into the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Knowing that they needed to win by any scoreline apart from 1-0 or 2-1 in Athens to qualify for the knockout phase, the Gunners took the lead in the 29th minute when Giroud headed home Aaron Ramsey’s cross from close range.
The France international then made it 2-0 four minutes after half-time when he coolly slotted home from close range after neat build-up play from Joel Campbell.
Giroud then completed his hat-trick with a confidently-taken penalty after Omar Elabdellaoui was adjudged to have handled in the box.
The 29-year-old striker has now scored 13 goals for Arsenal so far this season and has netted eight times in his last 10 games.
And celebrity Arsenal fan Morgan could not hide his delight as he reacted to the Frenchman’s display on Twitter.
If we pull this off, I might actually die of excitement.
I believe this is called a 'win-win'.
