Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Mousa Dembele could be out of action for around two weeks due to an ankle injury.

The midfielder was struggling with the problem in the build-up to Monday’s 2-1 victory over Watford and was taken off just before half-time at Vicarage Road.

Speaking at his post match news conference, Pochettino appeared to indicate that the midfielder is now set for a short spell on the sidelines.

Asked about Dembele, Pochettino told reporters: “We need to wait and assess him tomorrow.

“We hope it’s not too bad. Maybe one week, two weeks.”

Monday’s win at Watford came thanks to Son Heung-Min’s dramatic 89th-minute winner. Erik Lamela had slotted the visitors ahead in the 17th minute but Odion Ighalo equalised for the hosts just before half-time.

However, Son scored with a deft flick from Kieran Trippier’s cross to wrap up the three points for Spurs and lift them up to third in the table.

Tottenham now turn their attentions to their Premier League trip to Everton on Sunday 3 January.
